What a brilliant idea to simplify. I'm all for that. And about that gentle stroll, I'd call that a "moodle", which is part of the name of my tiny business that I'm trying to nurture as well as write a Substack. Not entirely sure if any of that is simple! 🤔

After seeing a recommendation from Chicken Scratch, you had me at a 'stone's throw from the beach...' Bingo.

And free because of a tough economy.

The stars and views aline.

So looking forward to reading your words.

Onwards...

I have been here on Substack for maybe six months, and it is just amazing to see the amount of support and encouragement coming from fellow 'creatives in the corner'. This is my first introduction to you, and it is just a treat.

Luisa, thank you greatly for bravely sharing your journey. I enjoy your writing and love the new title, "Writing around the Edges"! I recently joined Substack and I too have been "writing around the edges" trying to find my way, trying to find a voice, trying to find an audience. It is all consuming and exhausting, but also exhilarating, just as you describe. I have changed the name of my page 5 times already. :) Thanks for giving us permission to muddle around with our ideas. "permission slips to go gently, always" - love this! And I cannot believe the beauty of your writing space amid that beautiful setting, and most especially near the ocean. Enjoy and keep sharing.

So lovely to meet you here. I've just posted a short new letter about the joy of reading (gently!) It's at https://open.substack.com/pub/writingaroundtheedges/p/but-first-lets-read if you'd like a look 😊

Keep sharing your words too ✨️✍️🌸

What a beautifully placed cabin for all the artistic expression. Are you kidding me? Waves crashing in the background? The vivid pictures in my imagination sit a scene from a movie. Looking forward to what's to come from "Writing Around The Edges."

Luisa!! I feel like I just bumped into you at a local coffee shop and started chatting. It is SO nice to hear and feel you in this post. I am ALWAYS here for the burn-it-to-the-ground moves until it’s juuust right. Will be following along.

P.S omg your writing space/yoga client space - so dreamy! I dream of the day I’ll have my own creative / gathering / office space.

It landed out of the blue really, the opportunity to build it. Like it was all meant to be ;)

And coffee shop vibes - yes!

Love this! I, too, had a bit of a burning down the substacks the end of last year, leading to one substack to rule them all. I can't tell you how much happier this shift has made me. I can tell the relief is already there for you, too. No more plate spinning! I can't wait to see where this leads you. So so here for it.

You did, yes! Perhaps you started something...? (*whispers thank you)

I didn't even know it was wrong until I did. And then I felt guilty. And then I thought, "Hang on. I can fix this." And then I felt...better. Phew. What complicated creatures ;)

Book Alchemy is top of my Substack reading list, and your Footnotes emails too. You *will* get me properly into my fiction writing, sometime soon!

I cannot wait to see what fiction you've got inside you! And wow, it will be easier to write that fiction without substacks coming out of your ears. Big hugs for taking good care of you.

This is inspiring. I spent 2023 not writing or journaling after publishing a bunch of things I was super proud of in 2022. Now I just don't know-- why do I write? if it's for me, then why publish? did anyone (other than my mother, who is no no longer online) read what I wrote? I'm in a "what's the point" phase and love your "permission slip to go slow." This turtle will read long.

Welcome back! I think I had signed up just after you took a hiatus, knowing that with what I saw I wanted more if you decided to restart. (I think...I can't go back and look now. Hahaha!) Anyway, I soooo resonate with so much of what you say here, which shows me exactly why I subscribed. Your cabin sounds amazing and I look forward to seeing what it inspires next. My writing doesn't do well with financial pressure either. None of my arts do. I'm excited that you've rearranged your setup to better suit your style. And if you shift again...eh. Whatever. It's creative. It's meant to shift as we grow.

I kinda did the opposite with my writing. I used to have a ginormous blog, which I had to close down for--yes, financial reasons, which is how I wound up on Substack. But I also needed that massive change, because I realized that I needed to segregate mine for some very different types of audiences that my widely varied topics appealed to. Some people like all three, but not everybody. After much tinkering and monkeying around, both on that old blog and for my first 6 months here, I think I finally have it. Or at least...have it for now. Especially considering what you teach, I raise fists of support and throw up my hands in a happy dance for you, for this new adventure. Looking forward to more!
